Did you know 1 in 7 parents aren’t able to get their children gifts for Christmas? Well Toys for Tots was created for helping kids/parents when it comes to Christmas presents. Toys for Tots is a toy drive that has donation centers in various places around Anderson. People are able to donate new unwrapped toys from January 1st up until December 17th, which is when the toy drive is held at the UAW Hall. There are many ways people can volunteer and this includes teenagers and adults. People are able to volunteer, donate, and tell people what they are trying to accomplish.
A lot of teenagers aren’t aware of ways they can help Toys for Tots. According to Stephanie Robinson, Madison and Henry Counties Toys for Tots Coordinator , “High school students can volunteer with their parents consent at any set ups and distributions.” This is an easy way for students at Anderson High School to get involved in toy drives along with helping people in their community. Especially if donating toys isn’t an option.
Knowing that getting involved in volunteering with Toys for Tots is fairly easy.
All you have to have is a parent’s permission if you’re a minor. According to Robinson “When you volunteer you are able to help with set up, tear down , or distribute gifts to different families.” Which is why volunteering is helpful.
Teenagers are a big part of the community so if they are unable to volunteer or donate there are many many other ways they can get involved in this organization.
For anyone who would like to partner with Toys for Tots or set up a donation box to be responsible for them, they just have to reach out to Toys for Tots or the Salvation Army , Including students. According to Robinson “Toys for Tots would love to partner with students.”
