Ahs has many great opportunities that can help students start their adult life and career off strong. Whether that be helping learn skills such as writing a resume, filling out an application, or job interviewing. But one of the most important and influential opportunities Ahs has to offer is D26.
D26 is a great choice for students who know what they want to do when they graduate. They offer courses like CNA, culinary, construction, fire fighting, and so much more.
Talking to one of Ahs counselors, Aaron Riley can give us a little more insight on d26.” d26 is our sister facility that deals with skill trade and free college work. The idea that a student can learn skills and gain information that students can use after high school”, Riley states. “they teach students skills that are very applicable to the real world”.
D26 can be a great graduation path for students to at not only ahs but other schools as well, such as Madison, Delaware, Henry, Hancock, and Hamilton Counties.
When asked if d26 was a good opportunity for students to take advantage of Riley stated “ d26 is an amazing option because it offers college or career experience for students”. “ It would’ve been great to go into schools and work with students when I was in school” , Riley says.
Not only do teachers and staff think D26 is a good option but also students. David Espinoza, a sophomore, thinks this exact thought. “Yea the certificates can get u a lot of future jobs”
Ahs is a school that cares about their students and wants them to succeed. Students should be able to learn and have to resources to do so and at D26, students can get that and then some.
