A sense of fear and silence grips the gymnasium after witnessing a clash between Kaden Kendall and his opponent. Kaden and his opponent when suddenly both of the boys fell onto the bare gym floor. With cheers and laughter being long gone, everyone was unsure of what would come next for this young wrestler. The medic assessed Kaden and he returned to the match. With adrenaline rushing through him, he no longer can feel the deep pain intruding his hip. Kaden acts fast and obtains the win.
“The win was worth more than the pain” Kaden expresses.
The wrestling team won the Lapel game, 38-32. With the team excited and hungry for their next win, they prepare to dominate the field. That next Saturday the boys performed, in Hagerstown IN. There was a duel where 6 different Indiana schools came together and wrestled. Each school will go against the other, one by one, until every school has wrestled each other. The Anderson High School wrestling team showed up and destroyed the competition, winning the championship. Wrestlers Colton Fetty, Ayden Singleton, and Kaden Kendall won all six rounds of wrestling.
On the flip side, Anderson had many wrestlers who didn’t win. Even with the team getting first place, many wrestlers still felt lost. The Anderson High School wrestling team is all about improving and working harder based on your failures. With support from their coaches, the team never stops.
Kaden explains, “The team is always pushing for a better outcome.”
The team always strives for a better performance. Every time those boys get on the mat, they think about their last performance and how they will improve. Kaden has lost many matches yet; he is still a strong, winning wrestler. With Hagerstown and Lapel out of the way, the boys are ready to take down anything. With more wrestlers obtaining more wins, the team is excited.
Anderson High School’s wrestling team has always been strong. Since 1949 this team has fought for the win and achieved it. The wrestling team has proven many times how dedicated and strong-minded they are. With fierce competition, the team never shies away from giving it their best shot.
