The Delphi murders have been a popular topic of news in Indiana within the past few years.
On February 14, 2017, the bodies of 13 year old Abigail Williams and 14 year old Liberty German were found near the Monon High Bridge Trail in Delphi, Indiana.
The girls were murdered on February 13, 2024 by Richard Allen. He committed the murders by cutting the girls’ throats and leaving their bodies to bleed dry.
The two girls had decided to take a walk along Monon High Bridge Trail that Tuesday. They had unfortunately met Allen whilst on the trail. Allen followed them until he decided that he would sexually assault the girls, before changing his mind and fortunately never doing so. He would then proceed with his original plan, murdering the two girls.
Abby and Libby were found by police with their throats cut open, and with sticks covering their body in a specific pattern. This detail led to a theory of Odinism being involved in the reason for the murders taking place. However, this theory was dismissed due to lack of strong evidence to prove it correct.
Richard Allen received a maximum sentence of 130 years for committing the murders of Abigail and Liberty. He was charged on four counts of murder, being the two standing counts of murder, along with two counts of felony murder. Whilst being sentenced, Allen was said to show no sign of remorse for his actions.
