On February 15th, Dan’s Fish and Chicken conducted a fish fry in the Anderson High School cafeteria to help fundraise every sport team. Assistant athletic director, Adrian Heim, was put in charge of the fundraising. Heim prepared the event mainly on his own, with the help of his athletic office assistants. He has his own assistants each class period during the school day, who help him set up for sports or after school events. He organized the event and took care of the money, while his assistants would help him cut and organize the pre-sale tickets.

Originally the AHS baseball team has been enjoying Dan’s Fish and Chicken catering for their own fundraisers in the past three years. It was until this year that it was decided by the athletic directors, Steve Schindler and Heim, that the entirety of the athletic department will have the opportunity to raise money. Despite this fact, the baseball boys were the only team that served the food to the arriving customers as they have been in the past years. Expressing their best customer service skills, they served the food and walked around with trays offering those with empty plates more fish or chicken.
Kaydin Hutchison, one of the baseball players serving, expressed that “it’s fun talking to new people.” Not only did the fundraiser raise money for the athletic department, it also brought a great time for those who were there.
Each sports’ team had the equal opportunity to raise money for themselves. Each athlete from every team was required to sell a minimum of 10 tickets each. Every pre-sale ticket sold, gives back 5 dollars the sports teams were allowed to keep for their seasons. Heim declares that the fundraiser “It helps the teams who don’t really have the support.”
The event was so successful that Heim is certain that Dan’s Fish and Chicken will be back to cater again next year.
