Losing their undefeatable winning streak of the season, the Anderson High School varsity boys soccer team lost against Pendleton Heights for the 9th year in a row. The suspenseful game brought anger to many of the players.
Anderson kept good defense the entirety of the first quarter, ending it off with a score of 0-0.
The second quarter of the game is when Pendleton Heights players began to score on the Anderson team. However senior Raul Wilson, gave the team their first score of the game within the last two minutes of the second quarter.
Anderson High School ended the game off with an overall score 1-4.
The Anderson team were giving it their all, to the extent of several injuries on both teams. Senior player Sebastian Bernal was taken out of the game due to a cramp in his leg. As well as the opposing team with a head injury to one of their players.
Junior team captain Carter Spolyar was a prime example of how determined the Anderson team really was. “Playing on a sprained ankle didn’t help but I think I played okay.” Spolyar had sprained his ankle within the first few minutes of the game and decided to push through it until the end.
Despite their loss, the Anderson team proved their determination as a team altogether. And will continue to bring their determined attitudes into many games to come.
