With a new season starting, the Anderson High School baseball team is preparing for a new season with coaches and players and even some new additions. The team is ready to go against opponents in the North Conference and Division 4A.
The team played their first game at home against Fort Wayne South Side, beating them 13-5. It was a great way to start off the season and this first victory shows that the team’s intense preparation is paying off. “The team has prepared through consistent effort, including off season training and weights training,” said head coach Jamie Roudebush. “I think the kids have worked really hard. They put a lot of time and effort into it, and they really have bought into what we’re trying to do and how we do things.”
The Indians are not just focused on the field but also in the weight room. “We, you know, were committed to the weight room. Our kids have gotten really strong, and they continue to put the work in,” said Roudebush.

The Indians enter the season with three primary goals: win the Muller Tournament at Anderson High School, a conference and a sectional championship. One way the team hopes to accomplish these goals is with the addition of Christian Moore, an APA transfer. “I’ll say my goal is just to win a sectional, because that’s really my plan,” Moore said. “Last year for my last team, I won a sectional with them, so I just want to bring that to the team this year.”
Since transferring schools, Moore has been getting help from the players and other people on the baseball team so he can feel at home and comfortable. “Man it hasn’t been as rough since some of the people here helped me out a lot, and then just the baseball team has been helping me out, just getting me all just safe in here and just feeling comfortable.” Over the off season Moore was putting in work. He has been improving and has also been working on his fielding skills and his hitting. “I’ve definitely been working on my hitting. That’s gonna be one of my highlights this year.”
