The Anderson High School yearbook class has faced many problems, so they had to make the decision not to create a yearbook for 2024-2025. This news has left many students, staff, and teachers feeling upset because a yearbook is something many look forward to. It’s not just a yearbook. It’s a way to remember the amazing times people had in high school. For seniors, especially not having a yearbook means missing out on a chance to celebrate their final year, friendships, and all the events that made high school special.
First, the yearbook class was exciting and was doing great under Melissa Lawler. But when she took another job, things started to go downhill. The productivity dropped, and it became hard for the students to stay on task without her guidance.
Wil Foster took over as the new yearbook teacher, and even though he meant well, he ran into a bunch of problems that made it tough to finish the yearbook for last year. The class became disorganized, and they didn’t have important pages, photos, and info needed to make the yearbook. This made things more stressful for the students who were trying to keep the yearbook going.
Will Foster has stated,” It was digital and it just never got completed’. He also states in the Interview the past teacher was “phenomenal.” He then goes on to say that the last yearbook teacher moved away to be closer to family.
For many of the students, the yearbook is more than just pictures. It’s a way to remember all the fun times they’ve had, like homecoming, classes, sports, and clubs. Without it, students feel like those memories might fade away.
Not having a yearbook can also hurt the community in school. Yearbooks help them share their stories and experiences. Without one, they’re losing that bond they have. It’s hard to think that what should have been a celebration. This situation has made students and teachers think about how important this tradition is and if it can come back in the future.
Foster stated,’ Where we’re not really following a template, we’re making everything from scratch.”
He has decided not to go the traditional route when it comes to making yearbooks and instead uses his photography skills to create a whole new look for this year’s book

Foster said.’ I want to kinda stitch it together and put something out so that there is something,”
He then stated that “It’s like 85 percent done.” Hopefully, students will get a yearbook of 25 fully finished by next school year.
Overall, not having a yearbook last year has shown Students how important it is to document their lives and experiences at Anderson High.
