Joshua Senseney, 50, has been arrested on two major charges, child solicitation and official misconduct. Senseney was a resource officer at Highland Middle School. The arrest occurred on Nov. 26.
AHS Student Media reached out to speak to former Highland student Drew Power, who knew Senseney.
Power left Highland in 2022. Power commented about the situation, “I always had a feeling that he was weird in the back of my head,” Power said. “He was always talking to kids at lunch tables and walking up to them at lunch saying weird things to them.“
Power was very open about his experience, quoting text messages from Senseney such as, “I’m gonna spank you,” and “I’m gonna come through your window and spank you.”
Senseney also had Power’s number and did text him multiple times, eventually contacting Power off of a fake work account.
Senseney had also mentioned wanting to see Power and his friends at sporting events. When asked about Sensensay, Power’s parents commented, “He was really weird.”
AHS Student Media reached out to Director of District & Community Engagement of Anderson Community School Corporation Bradley Meadows to talk about the situation.
Here is what he had to say: “Student safety is our greatest priority. Which is why we take matters like this very seriously. As soon as we were made aware of the allegations involving Officer Senseney last spring he was removed from working as a School Resource Officer. This means that he has not worked at Highland Middle School or any of our schools as a School Resource Officer this school year. We will continue to work with the Anderson Police Department, Indiana State Police, and other law enforcement agencies as they continue with their investigations and the next steps of the judicial process.”
