On March 3 all juniors will be taking the SAT. This can be a time of stress and anxiety but it doesn’t have to be. There are many things a student can do to prepare for the SAT.
A study run by College Board, which is the company behind the SAT says you should, “begin studying 2-3 months before your testing date.” Molly Kimmerling and AHS Junior says she “A little worried… I feel like I haven’t studied enough.”
Natalie Stover, a former AHS student, had a different experience with her SAT. “I was kinda nervous going into it but lowkey it wasn’t too bad. Everyone acts like it’s the hardest test ever but it’s not really that bad.”
Going into the test calm and self-assured is very important. Stover says, “Just like be confident, what’s the worst that could happen if you fail? Well yea that is kinda the worst that can happen.”
It is not the end of the world even if a student ends up failing the test. Students are allowed to retake the SAT for the absolutely ludicrous price of $68. “That’s crazy, I didn’t even know that was a thing.”
If students don’t have $68 for a test there are a few last minute things students could do to improve their score. There are a few rules Grammar questions follow on the English portion of the test. “I low key genuinely look at like the rules like the morning of but like they helped,” says Stover. For the math portion students can go to Khan Academy and study any skill they feel they might do bad in.
Remember it’s normal to be nervous about this test or any test just take a deep breath and maybe the most important advice is go to bed early the night before.
